Acer has finally launched the Ryzen 5000 powered Acer Aspire 7 A715-42G laptop. The Aspire lineup of laptops from Acer has long been one of the most popular laptop series to have been purchased by consumers. The reason for the great sales figures is the affordability that the laptop offers combined with great technical specs. These laptops are mainly targeted for consumers on a budget, who favour the technical capabilities of the laptop over other factors such as superb aesthetics, cutting-edge OLED panels, etc.
As of the present scenario, the AMD Ryzen 5000 lineup of processors have successfully established themselves as the most powerful processors one can get for pretty much any workload. The Ryzen processors have always been terrific at multi-tasking but the 5000 series in particular also features the strongest standalone cores in any processor currently available. Even with all this awesome power, surprisingly, the processors run really cool and only sips power. Said efficiency translates into better thermals and a longer-lasting battery for your overall system while the strong standalone cores enable smooth gaming performance.
Thus, if you are someone on a budget who wants a system that allows for a decent gaming experience while easily handling any task you can throw at it, provided said task is suitable for a hexa core laptop processor. At the same time you don’t care much about excellent build quality or overall aesthetics of the laptop, then this laptop might be worth looking out for.
The technical specifications for the laptop are as follows:

Overall, the laptop would be powerful enough for everyday tasks and also capable enough for a fair bit of gaming. Said capability is thanks to the combination of its dedicated GeForce GTX 1650 GPU and the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU, one of the most powerful CPUs you can get at the Aspire 7’s targeted price category. While the screen isn’t particularly great with a 45% NTSC Color Gamut, it is decent enough for casual gaming and everyday tasks. The battery is advertised to be adequate for 11.5 hours on a single charge. In our opinion, however, an average user might expect to get a solid 8-9 hours of battery life with heavy workloads such as games drastically diminishing said figure. The weight of 2.15 kg also leaves a little to be desired.
On the other hand, the inclusion of a 512 GB NVMe SSD as the default storage solution and WiFi 6 capability is a welcome addition. The audio in the laptop is handled by stereo speakers along with two microphones and a 720p webcam for video conferencing.
