Social media today has become a part and parcel of our daily lives. Though the power to be able to communicate with anyone we choose to anywhere in the world has made the world a much smaller place, we at the same time cannot be dismissive about the lifestyle that social media is helping promote. Picture sharing platforms such as Instagram is used today to paint a digital veil of perfection over the normal lives we live today in pursuit of appreciation and likes.
Companies running said platforms also incentivize such behaviour to keep the average user hooked onto their services, churning out as much data as possible, per user, that the company can then put a price on to make a profit.
Taking into consideration, the incredible number of people in their teens and pre-teens making up a sizeable chunk of said user base, the consequence of said actions is a false impact on their upbringing as they grow up exposed to fallacies and mirages which in no respect reflect a true picture of the world they shall inherit, in turn shallowing their minds and misleading their outlook.
