#RIPElon has been trending on twitter for a few days now, while most of the netizens are convinced that the Tesla’s supremo is no more. But there is no concrete proof behind this claim.

In this article we will be discussing the main reasons and reactions behind this hoax.

Elon Musk is one of the most popular figures on social media. He is well known for his fiery and unconventional tweets.Tesla has crossed many milestones and continues to touch new limits. Starting from Electric Cars to now Space missions, Tesla is no longer a rookie. Elon Musk has been the strongest pillar throughout. He is known for creating headlines, just by his tweets. But this time, he is trending not because of his actions, but a rumor reporting his demise.

Microblogging sites like Twitter serve a great purpose for sharing thoughts and raising voices against the unjust. But it can also fuel the fire of fake news and create a wave of unrest. Reddit is a social media news platform, where trending news are shared and discussed.

Netizens on Twitter are flocking posts with the #RIPElon hashtag. While many are sharing the newsflash of Musk’s death, others are simply using the hashtag to pay  respects. Some Tweets are shared with screenshots of leading news portals, which are edited and fake. Apart from the screenshot headlines, there are some people sharing materials that are claimed to have been shared by Tesla confirming Musk’s death. Some are sharing tweets from Grimes, Musk’s partner of long time mourning his demise. Even this tweet is fake and not at all credible. Further connecting Musk and Tesla, some posts suggest that Musk died as a result of a lithium battery explosion at a Tesla factory.

To be clear, there’s no confirmation of Musk’s death . Additionally, Musk’s Twitter account being active these days, several netizens are claiming the posts to be faux. This is not solely on Twitter, but also on Reddit. In fact, in some Reddit threads there’s speculation that the posts and user reports surfaced as some way to control the market and have an effect on the stock worth of Tesla. However, there’s no proof that this is the case.
